Local-first AI video editing: what stays on your Mac
A precise privacy claim is more useful than a broad slogan.
Follow the media
For Finish core editing, the media is processed on your Mac after model installation. The website does not ask you to upload recordings for the First Finish invitation. This describes the core path; it does not mean the computer never makes a network request. Software setup, model downloads and optional services have separate behavior.
Understand the optional boundary
Enabling an online provider may send the inputs that provider needs. A text prompt, an image or a media segment can still contain sensitive information. Use Local Only for local core work and inspect the app’s connection settings. Do not assume a setting in one tool controls every other application or backup service on the Mac.
Separate privacy from professional compliance
A local workflow can reduce a cloud-media transfer, but it does not establish healthcare, legal, workplace or research compliance on its own. Permissions, storage security, institutional rules and the eventual publishing destination still matter. Use non-sensitive examples for evaluation and get the right approvals for confidential work.
Share diagnostics carefully
A useful support report starts with the app version, Mac model, memory and a concise reproduction. Review diagnostics and redact anything private before sharing. Do not begin by emailing patient footage, client recordings or access keys. Privacy is easier to explain when every boundary has a concrete purpose and a deliberate choice.
Read the product guide for the current feature boundaries. These articles describe workflows and product behavior, not independent research or clinical, legal or financial advice.
